๐ Readflexes Teacher Guide
Everything you need to create classes, assign activities, and track student progress
1. Getting Started
Sign Up for Readflexes
- Go to readflexes.com
- Click Sign In in the top right corner
- Choose to sign in with Google, or create an account with email and password
- Once signed in, you'll be taken to the Gym (main dashboard)
2. Creating a Class
Classes allow you to organize students and assign activities to them as a group.
Step 1: Go to Class Creation
Option A: From the Gym homepage
- Click the "Create a Class" button in the "My Classes" container
Option B: From the sidebar
- Click "My Classes" in the left sidebar
- Click "+ Create Class"
Option C: Direct URL
- Navigate to
/gym/org/create
Step 2: Fill Out Class Information
- Organization Name: Enter your school or organization name (e.g., "Lincoln Elementary")
- Class Name: Enter a descriptive name for your class (e.g., "Period 3 Spanish", "6th Grade ELA")
- Click "Create Class"
Step 3: Note Your Class Code
๐ก Important: After creating the class, you'll receive a Class Code (example: ABC123). Save this code! Students will need it to join your class. You can always find it later by viewing your class details.

3. Making a Vocabulary Set
Create custom vocabulary sets with words and images for your students to study.
Step 1: Go to the Set Creator
Option A: From the Gym homepage
- Click the "My Sets" button in the "Make a Set" container
Option B: From the sidebar
- Click "Make a Set" in the left sidebar
Option C: Direct URL
Step 2: Create Your Set
- Set Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Chapter 5 Vocabulary", "Spanish Family Words")
- Set Type: Choose the type of set you want to create:
- Standard: Word cards with optional images (flashcards, matching, study)
- Multiple Choice: Quiz questions with 4 answer choices
- Category (optional): Select a category like "Spanish", "English", "Math", etc.
Step 3: Add Words to Your Set
For Standard Sets:
- Add a Word:
- Type the word in the "Word" field
- Click "Search Images" to find an image from Unsplash
- Or paste a custom image URL
- Add More Words:
- Click "+ Add Word" to add additional entries
- Repeat until you have all your vocabulary words
- Bulk Import (optional):
- Click "Bulk Import" to paste multiple words at once
- Enter one word per line
- Images can be added individually afterward
For Multiple Choice Sets:
- Add a Question:
- Type your question text
- Optionally add an image URL for the question
- Enter 4 answer choices
- Select the correct answer(s)
- Add More Questions:
- Click "+ Add Question"
- Repeat for each question in your quiz
Step 4: Save Your Set
Save as Draft: Save your work without publishing
- Click "Save Draft" to continue editing later
- Drafts are private and only visible to you
Publish Your Set:
- Click "Save & Publish" when ready
- Choose visibility:
- Private: Only you can see and assign this set
- Public: Anyone can discover and use this set in the community library

Best Practice: Aim for 25+ words per set for comprehensive coverage. Use high-quality, relevant images for better retention!

4. Assigning a Set to Your Class
Once you have a class and a vocabulary set, you can assign it to students.
Step 1: Go to the Assignment Page
Option A: From the Gym homepage
- Click "Assign Activity" in the "My Classes" container
Option B: From the sidebar
- Click "Assign Activity" in the left sidebar
Option C: Direct URL
Step 2: Select Your Class
- Choose the class you want to assign to from the dropdown menu
- If you only have one class, it may be pre-selected
Step 3: Choose a Vocabulary Set
Option A: Your Custom Sets
- Click the "My Sets" tab
- Select one of your custom vocabulary sets
Option B: Curated Library Sets
- Browse by category (Spanish, English, Math, etc.)
- Select a pre-made set from the library
Option C: Community Sets
- Click "Community Sets"
- Browse or search sets created by other teachers
- Select a public set to assign
Step 4: Assign
- Click "Assign to Class"
- Students in your class will now see this assignment in their "My Assignments" section

5. Getting Students Logged In
There are multiple ways students can access Readflexes.
Method 1: Class Invite Link (Recommended)
- Get Your Invite Link:
- Go to your class details
- Copy the invite link (e.g.,
readflexes.com/gym/join?code=ABC123)
- Share with Students:
- Post the link in your LMS (Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.)
- Email to parents
- Display on your projector
- Students Click Link:
- Clicking the link automatically fills in the class code
- Students just need to sign in or create an account
- They can choose Google Sign-In or Email & Password
- They're automatically added to your class
Method 2: Anonymous Quick Play (No account needed)
For quick practice sessions without accounts:
- Students go to readflexes.com
- Click on any game or activity
- Play without signing in
โ ๏ธ Note: Progress won't be saved without an account.
Troubleshooting Login Issues
- Problem: Student can't sign in with Google
- Make sure Google sign-in is allowed on school devices
- Try using email/password instead
- Problem: Student entered wrong class code
- Class codes are case-sensitive
- Double-check the code with the student
- Share the invite link instead
- Problem: Student forgot password
- Click "Forgot Password" on the sign-in page
- They'll receive a password reset email
6. Viewing Student Data
Track student progress, view completed assignments, and see performance metrics.
View Class Overview
- Go to My Classes:
- Click "My Classes" in the sidebar
- Or navigate to
/gym/org
- Select Your Class:
- Click on the class name to see details
- Class Dashboard Shows:
- List of enrolled students
- Recent activity
- Assigned activities
- Class statistics
View Individual Student Progress
- From Class Dashboard:
- Click on a student's name
- View their individual progress on assignments
- See Student Metrics:
- Assignments completed
- Quiz scores
- Study time
- Sets practiced
- Badges earned
View Assignment Results
- Go to Your Assignments:
- Navigate to
/gym/assign
- Or click "Assign Activity" in sidebar
- Select an Assignment:
- Click on a previously created assignment
- View completion status for each student
- Assignment Data Shows:
- Who has completed the assignment
- Quiz scores (if applicable)
- Time spent studying
- Cards mastered
- Completion date

Creating Effective Vocabulary Sets

- Navigate to
/viva-readflexes.html
- Select "Teacher (Host)"
- Create a room code and share with students
- Select your vocabulary set
- Students join using the room code
- Start the game and award points as students buzz in
- View live leaderboard throughout the game

Common Questions
Q: Can students see other students' progress?
A: No, student data is private. Only teachers can view class progress.
Q: Can I assign the same set to multiple classes?
A: Yes! Assign a set to as many classes as you need.
Q: Can students create their own vocabulary sets?
A: Yes! Students can create sets in their own account. You can browse and assign public student-created sets.
Q: How do I delete a class?
A: Go to the class dashboard and click "Delete Class". This cannot be undone.
Q: Can I edit a set after assigning it?
A: Yes, but changes won't affect already-completed assignments. Students will see the updated version on new attempts.
Q: What happens if a student forgets their password?
A: They can click "Forgot Password" on the login page to reset it via email.
